Email Designated as SPAM

You can use SmartSimple as an email client in three different ways:

Using the build-in SMTP server within a SmartSimple Server

  • Whenever you click on an email address in SmartSimple the Email Message Centre is displayed and you can compose a message to the associated contact. This does not require any setup on behalf of the user, as the SmartSimple SMTP server is used to send the email.
  • The major disadvantage of this approach is that the reply address will not match the domain sending address, and therefore the odds that the email will be blocked by spam filters and spam servers is very high.
  • We only recommend this approach as a last resort when sending email, and do not recommend it be used on an ongoing basis.

Using your own email server

  • You can use the Email Setting feature of SmartSimple to establish a connection to your organisation's email server.
  • Use the following instruction to set up your email account Setting Up an Email Account.
  • When using this approach the reply address will match the domain sending address, and therefore the odds that the email will be blocked as spam will be the same as if you send the email from your alternative or previous email client.
  • We strongly recommend this approach for clients wishing to use email from within SmartSimple as part of their system operation.

Using the Email Broadcast Application

  • When using the Email Broadcast application the SmartSimple SMTP server is used to send the emails.
  • These emails are at high risk of being designated as spam.
  • Due to the increasing use of Spam filters and spam servers, it is increasingly likely that email broadcasts can be designed as spam.
